How to measure the content of impurities in caustic soda flakes

The purity of caustic soda will affect its effectiveness and price. The less impurities it contains, the better the quality of the product. So how should the content of impurities in caustic soda be detected? In order to help everyone better understand the measurement methods, let me introduce how to measure the impurity content of products.
Method for measuring impurities in caustic soda:After synthesis, caustic soda may contain some small amounts of impurities. If these impurities cannot be removed, they may affect its purity and reaction with other substances.

caustic soda flakes

Accurately weigh 1.5-2.0g of the sample on an analytical balance into a 250ml beaker, dissolve it in water (without carbon dioxide), and quantitatively transfer it into a 250ml volumetric flask. Dilute with water to the mark and shake well. Transfer 25.00ml (3 portions) of the test solution into a 250ml conical flask, add two drops of phenolphthalein indicator each, titrate with HCl standard solution until the solution changes from red to colorless as the endpoint, then record the volume V1 of HCl standard solution consumed, add 2 drops of methyl orange indicator, and continue titrating with the above hydrochloric acid standard solution until the solution changes from yellow to orange as the endpoint. Record the volume V2 of the HCl standard solution consumed.
By quantitative measurement, the content of intermediate caustic soda, impurities, and its purity value can be accurately calculated. The methods introduced above can be used as a reference for future measurement work. Only by mastering the correct measurement methods can the accuracy of the measurement results be guaranteed, otherwise incorrect operations will only affect the measurement results.
